Thanks for your support...

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, instructed and supported the Driving4Charity event at Prodrive's facility on Saturday 13th October. You all made a tremendous contribution to a fun and exciting day which has culminated in raising nearly £10,000 for brain tumour research - so far. I am expecting more donations to come in, so we should break the £10k barrier. The original target of £15k was based on a day of 60 participants, so we should be delighted with our achievements based on 36 people.

Well done everyone and thank you.

If you haven't made a donation yet or have enjoyed the experience of giving so much you'd like to do it again(!), please feel free to make a donation here now by going to JustGiving.

Best wishes and drive carefully.

The Idea

On Saturday 13th October 2007 Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust is inviting members of the public to enjoy a day of driving skills development. The event has been made possible owing to the generosity of Prodrive, The I.M.Group (inc.Subaru, Isuzu) and Driver Development Programme. The primary objective of the day is to raise funds for brain tumour research and consequently all monies received or pledged on the day will be channelled directly into the charity for research. Our secondary objective is to provide participants with a day of fun and learning in a safe environment (provided by Prodrive), enabling everyone to explore their driving skills behind the wheel of some serious vehicles (supplied by I.M.Group) in the company of top class performance-driving instructors (from Driver Development Programme).

The driving experience doesn't end there - you will also have an opportunity to drive Porsche's Cayman and a Formula Renault racing car. Just remember to bring your cheque book along to the event on Saturday October 13th in order to participate in the auction.

A holiday for relaxation or for racing...

We will be auctioning a holiday for one week, with self-catering accomodation for two people, in Germany's Ahr valley. You will be located in the town of Bad Neuenahr surrounded by vineyards and rolling landscape and situated between the Eifel and Rhine regions. The beauty and tranquility of this would be reward in itself ,but this holiday comes with the bonus of being situated 20 miles from the famous Nordschleife or Nurburgring should you need a break from the relaxation. The holiday booking is valid throughout 2008 (subject to availability) and we will liaise with you should you wish to plan your visit around a public day at "the Ring".

Honda's F1 stars unable to make the trip

Yes, the photos say it all. Unfortunately, we've been advised that a disappointed Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello will not be able to make the Driving4Charity event in October owing to other commitments. However, Honda have kindly provided us with autographed photographs of both F1 drivers which will be sold to the highest bidder at our auction. By the way, we are pleased to report that both drivers are looking happier in our signed photos!
